Snowsuits Or Outdoor Wear
Have you ever seen infant snowsuits on the store shelves? You cannot help but be charmed by these little snow suits that so earnestly mimic their adult counterparts. Of course, an infant snow suit needs to fulfill a different kind of function than many an adult’s snowsuit, and you will be wise to eschew the cuteness and wow factors for the practicality that kids’ snow suits offer to the discerning parent. By and large, a baby snowsuit needs to be repelling moisture both from the inside out and from the outside in. A leaking diaper can result in a rather cold nether region of your little one’s body, and thus the notion that snowsuits/outdoor wear do not need to be waterproof is sadly mistaken.
Boys’ snowsuits are not that much different from the snowsuits/outdoor wear marketed to girls, but the ease with which you can get one on your child may be greater when purchasing a snow suit that was designed with a boy in mind than if you were to look for those designed with a slurry of ribbons, decorative patches, and a host of other accessories that make it easier to get tangled and harder to close up the suit.
Snowsuits/outdoor wear should ideally be comprised of a water repellent shell and a removable fleece interior. While many toddler snowsuits are one continuous piece of clothing, the more expensive kids’ snowsuits – usually for sale in the outdoor supply stores and other specialty shops – will be a combination polar fleece toddler snowsuit and wind-jacket. For those snowsuits/outdoor wear it is important to understand the limitations of the material, such as the temperature range of the snowsuits as a whole and also the ranges of the individual components.
Furthermore, when shopping for snowsuits/outdoor wear, do not worry about fashion trends as much as safety. Excessive snaps will prevent the baby snowsuits from going on quickly and easily, while the average toddler snowsuit that does not have a zipper will be in direct opposition to the idea of allowing the child to become self sufficient. Bright colors are preferable to the muted colors or earth tones simply because a bright colored outfit is easier to pick out in a crowd and keep an eye on. Last but not least, just because the tag on the outfit reads “girls’ snowsuit 6x” you still need to have your child try it on. One manufacturer’s size 6x is another one’s 4T!
