Pacifiers

The subject of baby pacifiers and related accessories is certainly an eye-opener for those who have not visited it in awhile. Indeed, those of us who once were authorities on things pacifier, (and who thought that we would always be, so much was our baby attached to them)we can only stare in amazement at the advances in , um, pacifier technology. We thought we were really hot stuff, what with the revolutionary Nuk pacifier (that was more naturally shaped than the ‘old fashioned’ kind). One of our son’s first words, in fact, was “Nuk”. We could also judge his mood by how fast or slowly his Nuk bobbed up and down by the force of his sucking. It is only fair to mention that, within a week of his thirty fifth birthday, our son does not employ a Nuk anymore (at least that we know of).

One really breathtaking advance is the baby pacifier clips. Our son held on to his Nuk for dear life because he knew, should it hit the floor, he wasn’t getting it back until it was washed in really really hot water and soap. Today’s modern baby is confident that if the pacifier drops it need only be replaced, as it dangles sanitarily from the end of a clip.

Another quite hilarious innovation is the funny baby pacifiers. I must admit to laughing out loud when I saw the picture of the Lil’ Piglet baby pacifiers. (There must be someone I know who needs that for Christmas!) Online, I also found out that babies soothers and babies pacifiers are one in the same.

More online education was that pacifier clips can be made of chenille, wooden beads, and a really neat Bink Tink wherein the beads look like candy necklaces. They promise “Candy necklace style, but without the cavities or sticky neck.” Also neat is the personalized baby pacifier with the child’s name spelled out in rhinestones on the clip.

The innovation that I was most amazed at, of course, has to be the baby bling pacifiers!

What poor infant would want less in their pacifiers? A baby soother for sure, these rhinestone baby pacifiers come in stars, lips, and baseball designs. Online, baby soothers that never existed in my wildest dreams simply fly by! I think I am in love with the term baby soother…it sounds so posh and English. I will certainly use it in public at my first opportunity. If they don’t know what I’m talking about I will feel sorry for the poor dears…so out of touch!
