Bottle Brushes

As long as there have been bottles, there has been worry over how to keep them clean and sanitary for babies. Though their name has been lost in the mists of time, at one point, there was a clever person who came up with the answer: the baby bottle brush.

Bottle brushes by another name (flue, pipe, boiler or power, to name a few) would still be a bottle brush because that is the use to which we are putting it, at least until the kids are weaned.

Bottles come in many shapes and sizes, as do their brushes. The bottle and teat brush (that isn’t nearly as painful as it sounds), has a specially curved brush tip that reaches all parts of the bottle. It has a specially molded handle for cleaning teats (or nipples, in case you were wondering). Some other models carry their teat scrubber inside their handle. Either way, they are dishwasher safe.

Most bottle brushes have interchangeable brushes; they can be a fine-bristle bottle brush to a large bottle brush, depending on the use you intend with said brush.

One very useful type of bottle cleaning brushes is the deluxe bottle brush. A strong suction base that stands upright. This makes the brush itself stand upright and away from germs. Bottles are lowered down onto the brush for not only a thorough cleaning, but a cleaning that can be done with only one hand. Who can’t use an extra hand in the kitchen from time to time?

Bottle brushes need to be versatile because there are so many different kinds of bottles. There are tall, short, glasses, plastic, uniquely shaped brand name bottles, and more besides.

Most plastic handle bottle brushes have interchangeable bristles to accomplish different tasks. They can become a fine-bristled bottle brush or a narrow bottle brush with a flick of the wrist. There is one more innovation that those of us with dishwashers can truly appreciate. Nearly all bottle brushes are dishwasher safe. Those without dishwashers can wash their brushes in the hottest, soapiest water and they will come out clean and as good as new.

There is one more use for a bottle brush that should come as a real surprise to most of us. Miniature bottle brushes can be bought to use as decorations in a doll house. The little brush has a yellow handle and measures 1 ½ inches long. Go ahead; look for it on the web if you don’t believe me.
