Bath Time

At your baby shower you might have received a baby bath time gift basket filled with little soaps, shampoo samples, bath time mitts and various other odds and ends. The sheer volume of different accessories can be so intimidating in and of themselves that many first time parents see baby bath time as somewhat of a laborious production. Granted, while during bath time baby should have fun and get nicely cleaned up, it is important to remember that just because your baby bath time gifts basket was filled to the brim with different soaps, it does not mean that you have to actually use every last one of them!

What you really need for bath time is an infant tub, which will be useful until the baby is old enough to sit up by her or himself. While the baby is reclining, you will be able to simply and gently pour water over your baby to remove dirt and also baby shampoo. While bath time soaps abound, it is important to realize that a high quality baby shampoo will be more than enough to get baby clean from head to toe.

Granted, many a baby bath tub has a lot of added features and carrying compartments, but if you remember that you need one that will fit into your kitchen sinks, then you will quickly realize that the biggest model is not necessarily the best one. Similarly, if space is limited, you will appreciate not having to hoard a dizzying array of soaps and shampoos, when all you really need is only one container!

As your child gets older and bath time becomes more interactive, stay away from the bath time seat. While for a brief period of time this little gadget might work well, the danger of your baby getting stuck is considerable! A better idea is to put a heavy washcloth or bathmat into the bottom of the sink and let junior sit on it while you gently wash her or his hair and rinse away the shampoo. When the little one is ready to graduate to the bath tub, bath time will become even more interactive!

Plenty of bath toys – age appropriate of course – and some spare time will ensure that bath time is a time for fun and enjoyment. Plenty of pictures may be taken to permit for the creation of a bath time baby scrapbook; ideas for such scrapbooks are plentiful and the Internet will provide you with an array of templates to make the memories count!
